📦 Installation

Prerequisites

Using this server requires a MercadoLibre client ID and client secret. You can create a free application and obtain these credentials at https://developers.mercadolibre.com/.

After obtaining the credentials, you can configure this information by setting the CLIENT_ID and CLIENT_SECRET environment variables. Additionally, you need to set the SITE_ID environment variable to specify the site to use.

Mercado Libre Site IDs

• MLA: Argentina (default)
• MLB: Brazil
• MCO: Colombia
• MEX: Mexico
• MLU: Uruguay
• MLC: Chile

Installation Methods

There are multiple ways to use this server:

Install via Smithery (Recommended)

Automatically install the MercadoLibre MCP server for Claude Desktop via Smithery:

npx -y @smithery/cli install @lumile/mercadolibre-mcp --client claude

Method 1: Use NPX (Recommended)

Add the following to your Claude Desktop configuration file:

Method 2: Local Installation

1. Clone the repository.
2. Install dependencies:

npm install

3. Build the server:

npm run build

🔧 Debugging

Since the MCP server communicates via standard input and output, debugging can be challenging. We recommend using the MCP Inspector, a debugging tool that can be run via the command:

npm run inspector

The inspector will provide a URL to access the debugging tool, which you can open in your browser.
