A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that interfaces with the Vidu Video Generation API. This server provides tools for generating videos from images using Vidu's powerful AI models.

📦 Installation

Install via Smithery

To automatically install the Vidu Video Generation Server for Claude Desktop via Smithery:

npx -y @smithery/cli install @el-el-san/vidu-mcp-server --client claude

Manual Installation

1. Clone this repository:

git clone https://github.com/el-el-san/vidu-mcp-server.git
cd vidu-mcp-server

2. Install dependencies:

npm install

3. Create a .env file based on .env.template and add your Vidu API Key:

VIDU_API_KEY=your_api_key_here

Build the TypeScript code

npm run build

Start the server

npm start

The MCP server will start and be ready to accept connections from MCP clients.

🛠️ Tools

1. Image to Video

Convert static images to videos with customizable parameters.

Parameters:

• image_url (required): The URL of the image to convert to a video.
• prompt (optional): A text prompt for video generation (maximum 1500 characters).
• duration (optional): The duration of the output video (4 or 8 seconds, default 4 seconds).
• model (optional): The name of the generation model ("vidu1.0", "vidu1.5", "vidu2.0", default "vidu2.0").
• resolution (optional): The resolution of the output video ("360p", "720p", "1080p", default "720p").
• movement_amplitude (optional): The amplitude of object movement in the frames ("low", "medium", "high", default "medium").
• fps (optional): The frame rate of the video (15 or 30, default 30).

2. Check Generation Status

Monitor the current status of a video generation task.

Parameters:

• task_id (required): The ID of the task to check.

3. Upload Images

Upload one or more images for subsequent processing.

Parameters:

• images (required): A list of images to upload, supporting URLs or local file paths.
• prompt (optional): A text prompt describing the content of the images.

🔧 Technical Details

The Vidu Video Generation MCP server interacts with Vidu's video generation API through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). The server receives client requests, processes images and prompt information, and calls the Vidu API to generate the corresponding video content. The generated video files are stored in the cloud, and users can obtain download links through the API.

⚠️ Troubleshooting

1. Unable to start the server: Ensure that the Node.js version meets the requirements (v14 or higher) and that all dependencies are correctly installed.
2. API request fails: Check the network connection, confirm that the Vidu API key is valid, and view the specific error information to solve the problem.
3. Low-quality generated video: Try adjusting the model, resolution, and movement_amplitude parameters to find the best combination.
