🚀 Ctrip Travel Planning Assistant MCP Server

This MCP server provides access to Ctrip data for planning vacations, finding attractions, restaurants, and hotels.

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• Python 3.10 or higher.
• uv - A fast Python package installer and resolver.
• Ctrip API key (obtain from Ctrip Developer Portal).
• Claude Desktop.
• Google Maps MCP server (see GitHub).

Installation with uv

1. Clone this repository.
2. Create and activate a virtual environment:

   uv venv
   # On Windows
   .venv\Scripts\activate
   # On macOS/Linux
   source .venv/bin/activate
   

3. Install the required dependencies:

   uv add "mcp[cli]"
   

Running the Server

You can run the server directly:

# Set the API key as an environment variable
export CTRIP_API_KEY=your_api_key_here  # Linux/macOS
set CTRIP_API_KEY=your_api_key_here     # Windows Command Prompt
$env:CTRIP_API_KEY="your_api_key_here"  # Windows PowerShell

# Run the server
mcp run server.py

Setting up on Claude Desktop

Install the MCP server using the following command:

mcp install server.py

Configuring Claude Desktop

1. Open Claude Desktop.
2. Go to Settings > MCP Server.
3. Add a new server configuration as follows:

4. Replace PATH_TO_YOUR_PROJECT with the absolute path to your project directory.
5. Replace YOUR_API_KEY_HERE with your actual Ctrip API key.

Using the Travel Planning Assistant

1. Start a new conversation in Claude.
2. Begin any prompt with the "Travel Planning Assistant" keyword.
3. Follow the interactive prompts to plan your perfect vacation!

📚 API Endpoints Used

• Geolocation Search: Find geographical locations by name and category.
• Geolocation Details: Get comprehensive information about geographical locations.
• Geolocation Photos: View photos of geographical locations.
• Geolocation Reviews: Read reviews of geographical locations.
• Nearby Search: Find geographical locations near a specific point.

🔧 Troubleshooting

• If you see a 401 Unauthorized error, check if your API key is correct and ensure that your IP address is whitelisted in the Ctrip Developer Portal.
• For Claude Desktop integration issues, verify your configuration settings and make sure the path to server.py is correct.
• If Claude fails to complete, it's likely due to too many input tokens. The get_location_details_tool is often the culprit.
