🚀 yt-dlp-mcp Project

This is an MCP server implementation integrating yt-dlp, providing video and audio content download capabilities for Large Language Models (LLMs) (e.g., YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, etc.).

• Subtitles: Download subtitles in SRT format for LLMs to read.
• Video Download: Save videos to your Downloads folder, with resolution control supported.
• Audio Download: Save audio to your Downloads folder.
• Privacy Protection: Direct download without tracking.
• MCP Integration: Use with Dive and other MCP-compatible LLMs.

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

Install yt-dlp according to your operating system:

winget install yt-dlp

# macOS
brew install yt-dlp

# Linux
pip install yt-dlp

Integration with Dive Desktop

1. Click "+ Add MCP Server" in Dive Desktop.
2. Copy and paste the following configuration:

API Documentation

• list_subtitle_languages

  • List all available subtitle languages and their formats (including auto-generated subtitles) for a video.
  • Input parameters:
    • url (string, required): Video URL.

• download_video_subtitles

  • Download video subtitles in the specified language, supporting both auto-generated and regular subtitles.
  • Input parameters:
    • url (string, required): Video URL.
    • language (string, optional): Language code (e.g., 'en', 'zh-Hant', 'ja'). Default is 'en'.

• download_video

  • Download a video to the user's Downloads folder.
  • Input parameters:
    • url (string, required): Video URL.
    • resolution (string, optional): Video resolution ('480p', '720p', '1080p', 'best'). Default is '720p'.

• download_audio

  • Download the highest-quality audio (usually in m4a/mp3 format) to the user's Downloads folder.
  • Input parameters:
    • url (string, required): Video URL.

If necessary, start the server manually:

Requirements

• Node.js version >= 14.0.0
