📦 Installation

System Requirements

• Python 3.11+
• UV package manager
• Brave API key

Installation Steps

1. Clone the project

git clone <repository URL>
cd mcp2brave

2. Create and edit the environment variable file

# Add the Brave API key to the .env file
.env

3. Create a virtual environment using UV

# Create and activate the virtual environment
uv venv
# For Windows:
.venv\Scripts\activate
# For Linux/Mac:
source .venv/bin/activate

4. Install dependencies

uv sync

Basic Usage

Install as a Claude Extension

fastmcp install mcp2brave.py

Development Mode and MCP Checker

To test the functionality using the MCP checker:

fastmcp dev mcp2brave.py

After running, you can access the MCP checker in your browser at: http://localhost:5173

Advanced Usage

The following tools are available:

• search_web(query: str): Search the web using the Brave API.
• search_web_info(query: str): Same as above, with Chinese descriptions.
