What is MCP BatchIt?
MCP BatchIt is a simple aggregator server in the MCP ecosystem. It exposes only one tool: 'batch_execute'. With this tool, you can combine multiple calls to MCP tools (such as fetch, read_file, create_directory, etc.) into one request. How to use MCP BatchIt?
Send a JSON-RPC request to MCP BatchIt, specifying the target MCP server and the list of operations to be performed.Applicable scenarios
Suitable for AI agents or multi-step tasks that need to reduce token consumption, network overhead, and duplicate context.Main features
Single 'batch execution' toolYou only need to specify a series of sub-operations, which reference existing MCP server tools.
Parallel executionMultiple sub-operations can be run simultaneously, controlled by `maxConcurrent`.
Timeout and error stopEach sub-operation has a timeout limit. If an error occurs and `stopOnError` is true, new sub-operations will stop.
Connection cachingReuse the same connection to the downstream MCP server until the idle timeout.
Advantages and limitations
Advantages
Significantly reduce token consumption and network overhead.
Simplify the implementation of multi-step tasks.
Support parallel processing to improve efficiency.
Limitations
Does not support data transfer between sub-operations.
Cannot display partial progress midway.
Must use a real MCP server and cannot directly use the aggregator itself.
Each call can only reference one target MCP server.
How to use
Installation and startup
After cloning the repository and installing dependencies, run npm start to start the server.
Send a batch execution request
Send a `batch_execute` request to MCP BatchIt via JSON-RPC.
Usage examples
Read files and create a directoryRead two files and create a new directory.
Write to multiple filesWrite content to multiple files.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if sub-operation #2 depends on the result of sub-operation #1?
Why do I sometimes get the error 'Tool create_directory not found'?
Can I enable error stopping while having concurrent execution?
Does BatchIt restart the target server every time?
If an error occurs midway, will it return partial results?
