🚀 Space Frontiers MCP Server

This project implements a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, serving as an interface to the Space Frontiers API. It enables language models to interact with Space Frontiers data sources through defined tools. The server utilizes the FastAPI framework and the FastMCP library.

⚠️ Important Note

Space Frontiers offers a publicly hosted MCP server at https://mcp.spacefrontiers.org. To use it, obtain an API key from https://spacefrontiers.org/developers/keys and include it in your requests in the format Authorization: Bearer <your_api_key>.

The server exposes the following tools for interaction:

simple_search

Performs a keyword search on a specified Space Frontiers database (library, Telegram, or Reddit).

Parameters:

• source (SourceName): The data source to search (e.g., "library", "telegram", "reddit").
• query (str): The keyword search query.
• limit (int): The maximum number of results to return.
• offset (int): The starting offset of the results.

Return Value: (str) The search results.

search

Performs a semantic search on a specified Space Frontiers database (library, Telegram, or Reddit).

Parameters:

• query (str): The semantic search query.
• sources (list[SourceName] | None, optional): A list of data sources to search, defaulting to ["library"].
• filters (FiltersType | None, optional): Optional filters to apply to the search, defaulting to None.
• limit (int, optional): The maximum number of results to return, defaulting to 10.

Return Value: (str) The search results.

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

To run the server for communication with the Claude App or STDIO, execute the following command in the terminal:

uv run mcp run main.py

Ensure that the SPACE_FRONTIERS_API_KEY environment variable is set before running the server.

Advanced Usage

Here is an example configuration (claude_desktop_config.json) for integrating the Space Frontiers MCP server with the Claude desktop application:
