MCP K8s Go

🚀 Connecting MCP Server Based on Golang to Kubernetes

This project enables a Golang-based MCP server to connect to Kubernetes, providing flexible configuration and access control.

• Environment Variable Configuration: Flexibly specify the path of the Kubernetes configuration file by setting the KUBECONFIG environment variable.
• Command-line Options: Provide the --allowed-contexts option to limit the range of Kubernetes contexts accessible to users.

📦 Installation

Using Pre-built Binaries

Install via npm

npm install -g @strowk/mcp-k8s

Then check if the version is output correctly:

mcp-k8s --version

Add the following configuration to claude_desktop_config.json:

Via GitHub Release

Download the latest version for your platform from the GitHub releases page, extract it, and add the executable to your PATH environment variable.

Add the following configuration to claude_desktop_config.json:

Compile from Source

If you have Golang installed, you can compile and install by running the following commands:

go get github.com/strowk/mcp-k8s-go
go install github.com/strowk/mcp-k8s-go

Then add the following configuration to claude_desktop_config.json:

Using Docker

Starting from version 0.3.1-beta.2, the image has been published to Docker Hub and supports multiple platforms (linux/amd64 and linux/arm64).

Example of running the container:

docker run -i -v ~/.kube/config:/home/nonroot/.kube/config --rm mcpk8s/server:latest

On Windows systems, you may need to adjust the path to something like //c/Users/<username>/.kube/config.

For Claude configuration:

Environment Variables and Command-line Options

Environment Variables

• KUBECONFIG: Specify the path of the Kubernetes configuration file (optional, default is ~/.kube/config).

Command-line Options

• --allowed-contexts=<ctx1,ctx2,...>: A comma-separated list of allowed Kubernetes contexts. If not specified, all contexts are accessible.
• --help: Display help information.
• --version: Display version information.
