📦 Installation

Install from npm (Recommended)

npm install -g mcp-server-onenote

This package has been available on the npm registry since April 27, 2025.

Run the Package

After installation, you can run it using the following command:

mcp-server-onenote

Or via npx:

npx mcp-server-onenote

Install using Smithery

To automatically install the OneNote server for the Claude desktop version via Smithery:

npx -y @smithery/cli install @modelcontextprotocol/server-onenote --client claude

📚 Documentation

Configuration

Set the following environment variables:

• AZURE_TENANT_ID: Your Azure tenant ID
• AZURE_CLIENT_ID: Your Azure application (client) ID
• AZURE_CLIENT_SECRET: Your Azure client secret

Use with MCP Client

Add the following content to your MCP client configuration file (e.g., for Claude desktop):

Azure Application Registration

1. Visit the Azure Portal and navigate to App Registrations.
2. Create a new registration.
3. Add Microsoft Graph API permissions:
   • Notes.ReadWrite.All
   • Notes.Read.All
4. Create a client secret.
5. Copy the tenant ID, client ID, and client secret for configuration.
