A research-grade implementation of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that provides AI-driven research capabilities by interacting with the Perplexity website, eliminating the need for an API key.

🛠️ Tools

1. Search (search)

Execute a search query on Perplexity.ai. Supports brief, normal, or detailed responses. Returns the raw text output.

2. Get Documentation (get_documentation)

Ask Perplexity to provide documentation and examples for a technology/library, optionally with a specific context. Returns the raw text output.

3. Find APIs (find_apis)

Ask Perplexity to find and evaluate APIs based on requirements and context. Returns the raw text output.

4. Check Deprecated Code (check_deprecated_code)

Ask Perplexity to analyze deprecated features in a code snippet within a specific technology context. Returns the raw text output.

5. Extract URL Content (extract_url_content)

Extract the main article text content from a URL using browser automation and Mozilla's Readability. Processes GitHub repositories via gitingest.com. Supports recursive link exploration to a specified depth. Returns structured JSON containing content and metadata.

6. Chat (chat_perplexity)

Maintain an ongoing conversation with Perplexity AI. Stores chat history locally in chat_history.db. Returns the latest response text.

📦 Installation

1. Clone the repository:

git clone https://github.com/wysh3/perplexity-mcp-zerver.git
cd perplexity-mcp-zerver

2. Install dependencies:

npm install

3. Build the server:

npm run build

Basic Usage

1. Start the server after configuration:

npm start

2. Now you can call these tools through MCP. For example, use the search tool:
