MCP Server Bash

🚀 mcp-server-bash

A minimalistic MCP server written in Shell script.

This repository is a supplement to the article: Minimalistic MCP Server in Bash Script.

The life cycle of an MCP server can be divided into two stages: initialization and operation.

mcp_add.sh implements all messages throughout the entire life cycle, from the handshake protocol to the execution of a simple "addition" tool.

🚀 Quick Start

To perform basic tests in the CLI:

# Test the tools/list method

# Test the math_addition tool

Testing with mcphost

Add executable permissions to the bash script:

chmod +x mcp_add.sh

Run mcphost with the llama3.1 model and the tool configuration file:

mcphost -m ollama:llama3.1:latest --config /Users/anton/code/mcp-server-bash/mcp.json

...

Use the math tool to add 10 and 88
