This is a TypeScript-based MCP server that implements a simple note-taking system. It demonstrates core MCP concepts through the following features:

• Resources represent text notes with URIs and metadata.
• Tools are used to create new notes.
• Prompts generate note summaries.

Resources

• List and access notes via note:// URIs.
• Each note has a title, content, and metadata.
• Use a simple plain text document type for content access.

Tools

• create_note - Create a new text note.
  • Accepts title and content as required parameters.
  • Stores the note in the server state.

Prompts

• summarize_notes - Generate a summary of all stored notes.
  • Includes all note content as embedded resources.
  • Returns a structured prompt for LLM summarization.

📦 Installation

Install Dependencies

npm install

Build the Server

npm run build

Development with Automatic Rebuild

npm run watch

Configuration for Claude Desktop

To use with Claude Desktop, add the server configuration:

Debugging

Since MCP servers communicate via stdio, debugging can be challenging. We recommend using MCP Inspector, which can be obtained via the package analysis script:

npm run inspector

The Inspector will provide a URL to access the debugging tool in the browser.
