This is a middleware that allows large language models (such as Claude and VS Code) to directly interact with PlayFab services. As a secure and efficient translator, it connects your AI assistant to various PlayFab features, including item search, segment query, player profile lookup, inventory management, and PlayFab ID conversion.

How Does It Work? 🛠️

This server uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to establish a common interface between AI models and PlayFab services. Although the MCP is designed to support any AI model, it is currently in the developer preview phase.

Follow these steps to get started:

1. Set up your project.
2. Add project details to your LLM client configuration.
3. Start interacting with PlayFab data naturally!

What Can It Do? 📊

• Search for items using PlayFab's search_items API.
• Get complete segment information.
• Query player profiles within a specified segment.
• Get current inventory items via the get_inventory_items API.
• Get inventory collection IDs using the get_inventory_collection_ids API.
• Convert PlayFab IDs to Title Player Account IDs through the get_title_player_account_id_from_playfab_id API.

🚀 Quick Start

Installation via Smithery

To automatically install the PlayFab MCP Server for Claude Desktop via Smithery:

npx -y @smithery/cli install @akiojin/playfab-mcp-server --client claude

Prerequisites

• Node.js 14 or higher.
• A valid PlayFab account (obtain your Title ID and Developer Secret Key through the PlayFab Game Manager).
• A supported LLM client, such as Claude Desktop.

Set Up the Project

Obtain your Title ID and Developer Secret Key from the PlayFab Game Manager, then create a .env file in the project root directory with the following content (replace the placeholders with your actual credentials):

PLAYFAB_DEV_SECRET_KEY=

Start the Server

1. Install Dependencies
   Run the following command in the project root directory to install all required dependencies:

   npm install
   

2. Build the Project
   Compile the project by executing:

   npm run build
   

3. Start the Server
   Switch to the dist folder and start the server:

   npm start
   

4. Confirm the Message
   After starting, you should see the following message:

   PlayFab server is running on stdio
   

Run with Cursor

To use the PlayFab MCP Server with Cursor, follow these steps:

1. Install Cursor Desktop if you haven't already.

2. Open a terminal and run the following command to install the necessary dependencies:

   npm install
   

3. Start the server:

   npm start
   

4. In another terminal window, start Cursor.

5. In Cursor, enter the following to interact with the PlayFab MCP Server:
