What is LegalContext?
LegalContext is an intelligent document bridge system designed specifically for law firms. It seamlessly connects your Clio document management system with the Claude AI assistant through a secure protocol. It can process sensitive legal documents in a fully localized environment, addressing the pain point of low efficiency in traditional legal retrieval. How to use LegalContext?
Simply authorize your Clio account, and the system will automatically build a document index. When asking questions in Claude AI, relevant legal documents will be automatically used as references. All processing is completed on your local server or computer.Use cases
It is suitable for scenarios such as quickly retrieving historical case documents, analyzing contract clause templates, and preparing litigation materials. It is particularly useful for background research when dealing with complex legal issues.Main Features
Secure Document AccessSecurely obtain documents through the official Clio API. All data transmissions are encrypted, meeting the confidentiality requirements of the legal industry.
Localized ProcessingAll processing flows such as document parsing and vectorization are completed on your local device, and sensitive data never leaves the internal network.
Semantic SearchIt uses the LanceDB vector database, which can understand the actual meaning of legal terms for intelligent retrieval, rather than simple keyword matching.
Deep Integration with ClaudeIt seamlessly collaborates with Claude Desktop through the MCP protocol, and AI responses are automatically associated with the law firm's internal documents.
Advantages and Limitations
Advantages
Breaking through the limitations of traditional keyword search, it can understand the semantic associations between legal concepts.
The fully localized processing flow ensures absolute security of client confidentiality.
Out - of - the - box Clio integration without complex data migration.
The response speed is more than 10 times faster than manual retrieval.
Limitations
The free version limits 100 documents and 50 daily queries.
One - time authorization of Clio account access is required.
Building the document index for the first time may take a long time.
Real - time document synchronization is not currently supported (manual update is required).
How to Use
Environment Preparation
Ensure that the Bun runtime environment (similar to Node.js but more efficient) and Docker (if containerized deployment is required) are installed.
Get Clio API Credentials
Create an application in the Clio developer portal and record the Client ID and Client Secret.
Service Configuration
Copy the.env.example file to.env and fill in your Clio credentials and database path and other configurations.
