Quick Installation

Manual Build

1. Clone the repository:

   git clone https://github.com/mark3labs/memory-mcp-server-go.git
   cd memory-mcp-server-go
   

2. Install dependencies:

   go mod tidy
   

3. Build the binary:

   go build -o bin/memory-mcp-server-go .

Start the Server

memory-mcp-server-go --port 5001

Configuration

Default Configuration

• Listening address: localhost
• Port: 5001
• Data file path: memory.json in the current directory

Example Commands

• Create entities:

Memory File Path

• Default path: ./memory.json
• Can be customized via the environment variable MEMORY_FILE_PATH.

Error Handling

Common Errors

1. File does not exist:

   • Check if the file path is correct.
   • Initialize a new file: touch memory.json

2. Port is occupied:

   • Catch the error message: Address already in use
   • Try another port: --port 5002
