This is an implementation of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) service based on WordNet, providing vocabulary query functions, including synonyms, antonyms, hypernyms, hyponyms, and definitions.

📦 Installation

Install via PyPI

It is recommended to use uv for installation:

# Install wordnet-mcp-server
uvx wordnet-mcp-server

Or use pip:

# Install wordnet-mcp-server
pip install wordnet-mcp-server

Install from source code

# Clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/keepondream/wordnet-mcp-server.git
cd wordnet-mcp-server

# Install dependencies and the project
uv pip install -e .

💻 Usage Examples

Run directly

After installation, you can run the service directly from the command line:

# Run using the entry point
wordnet-mcp

# Or run using the Python module
python -m wordnet_mcp_server

Configure the service in an MCP client

Method 1: Use the uvx command directly (recommended)

After the service is published to PyPI, you can configure it directly using the uvx command (the simplest way):

Add the MCP service in Cursor

1. Install the MCP service in Cursor.
2. Add the WordNet MCP service (using one of the above methods).
3. Use the service for vocabulary queries.

The project provides a Makefile for easy development and publishing operations:
