This MCP server offers a tool to generate Python function code according to descriptions, and it can be optionally configured with user-provided tests.

📦 Installation

This server is designed for easy installation using the uv Python package manager.

1. Prerequisites: Ensure that uv is installed and included in the system PATH. For uv installation instructions, see uv Installation Instructions.

2. Get the Code: Clone this repository or download and extract the source code ZIP file.

3. Run the Installation Script:

   • Windows: Open the Command Prompt or PowerShell, navigate (cd) to the project directory (e.g., MCP_Server), and then run: .\\setup.bat
   • Linux/macOS: Open the terminal, navigate (cd) to the project directory, make the script executable (chmod +x setup.sh), and then run: ./setup.sh This script will create a local virtual environment (.venv) using uv and install the necessary dependencies. It will also output the required commands and parameters for client configuration. (Note: The script will attempt to delete the existing .venv directory in the project folder to ensure a clean environment. Please back up its contents if necessary.)

4. Configure Your MCP Client: Copy the command ("uv") and args array ([ "run", "--project", "/path/to/your/project", "mcp-function-generator" ]) printed in the script output into your MCP client configuration file (e.g., settings.json for Claude Desktop).

5. Restart the Client: Save the configuration file and restart your MCP client (e.g., Claude Desktop) for the changes to take effect.
