This project demonstrates how to implement an MCP server and client on a Linux system. It provides step - by - step instructions for setting up both the server and the client, as well as running the client with the server.

🚀 Quick Start

Server Setup

Create a New Directory for the Server

uv init mcp_server_explore
cd mcp_server_explore

Create and Activate a Virtual Environment

uv venv
source .venv/bin/activate

Install Dependencies

uv add "mcp[cli]" 

Create the Server File

touch mcp_server_explore.py

Client Setup

Create a New Directory for the Client

uv init mcp_client_explore
cd mcp_client_explore

Create and Activate a Virtual Environment

uv venv
source .venv/bin/activate

Install Dependencies

uv add mcp python-dotenv anthropic

Create the Client File

touch mcp_client_explore.py

Running the Application

uv run mcp_client_explore.py /workspaces/vsc_dev_mcp_explore/mcp_server_explore/mcp_server_explore.py
