What is MCP Weather Server?
This is a bridge service that connects meteorological data with artificial intelligence systems, allowing AI assistants like Claude to directly query real-time weather and warning information. It is developed in TypeScript and standardizes communication through the MCP protocol. How to use this service?
Simply add the service configuration to the AI client configuration file. After restarting, you can query the weather using natural language, for example, 'Will it rain in Shanghai tomorrow?'Applicable scenarios
Suitable for AI application scenarios that need to combine weather information: travel planning, outdoor activity suggestions, disaster warning reminders, smart home control, etc.Main features
Real-time weather forecastSupports the acquisition of current weather conditions and forecast data for the next 72 hours in major cities around the world
Meteorological warning systemCan identify extreme weather warning information such as typhoons and heavy rains and push it to the AI system
MCP protocol integrationAdopts the standardized Model Context Protocol to achieve seamless docking with various language models
Advantages and limitations
Advantages
Out-of-the-box weather data solution
No need to repeatedly develop API docking modules
Supports quick access to mainstream AI platforms
Type-safe TypeScript implementation
Limitations
Depends on the update frequency of third-party meteorological data sources
Currently only supports city-level location queries
Requires basic technical configuration capabilities
How to use
Install the service
Clone the repository and build the TypeScript project
Configure the Claude client
Add the MCP server settings to the configuration file (the configuration file is usually located in ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/)
Restart the application
Completely exit the Claude desktop client and then restart it
Usage examples
Travel planning adviceThe AI automatically adjusts the itinerary based on the weather at the destination
Disaster warning notificationPush real-time extreme weather warning information
