This is a plugin for Unreal Engine (UE) that implements the server-side of the Model Context Protocol (MCP). This plugin allows MCP clients like Anthropic's Claude to access the full UE Python API.

📦 Installation

Install from Fab

The easiest way to install the MCP Python Bridge Plugin is from the Fab store page. After purchase, the plugin will appear in your Epic Games Launcher library. Click "Install to Unreal Engine" and follow the prompts to complete the installation.

Install from GitHub

If you can't install via Fab, you can download the source code from GitHub and build it manually:

1. Visit the GitHub repository.
2. Clone the repository to your local development environment.
3. Open Visual Studio 2019 or later and open the .uproject file in the project folder.
4. Click "Build" to generate the plugin.

💻 Usage Examples

Prerequisites

• Visual Studio 2019 or later (if building from source).
• An AI agent. The following assumes you're using Claude, but any AI agent implementing MCP can be used.
• Unreal Engine 5 with the Python Editor Scripting Plugin enabled.
• Familiarize yourself with the Unreal Engine Python API.

Basic Usage

To add new tools and prompts in unreal_mcp_client.py, simply follow the existing pattern. For example, here's how to define a new prompt named create_castle() in the client:

After each modification to unreal_mcp_client.py, you must restart Claude for the changes to take effect. On Windows, you may need to end the Claude process via the Task Manager to fully restart it.
