What is the MCP Learning Project?
This is a project for learning the implementation of the MCP protocol, including two implementation methods: API service and MCP server. The project mainly provides four arithmetic operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to help developers understand the working mechanism of the MCP protocol. How to use the MCP Learning Project?
The project provides two usage methods: local standard input - output (stdio) method and remote service method based on SSE. Users can choose the appropriate method to configure and start the service according to their needs.Applicable Scenarios
Suitable for developers who want to learn the implementation principle of the MCP protocol or scenarios that need to quickly build a simple calculation service.Main Features
Four Arithmetic OperationsProvide four basic mathematical operation functions of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
Dual - mode SupportSupport two implementation methods: stdio local call and SSE remote service
Real - time Message TransmissionImplement real - time communication based on SSE (Server - Sent Events)
Advantages and Limitations
Advantages
Simple and easy to use, suitable for learning the MCP protocol
Provide two implementation methods for easy comparison and understanding
Lightweight and fast to start
Limitations
Simple functions, only support four arithmetic operations
Not suitable for use in a production environment
How to Use
Install Dependencies
Ensure that Python 3.10+ is installed on the system, and then install the project dependencies
Start the API Service
Enter the api_server directory and start the API service
Select the Startup Method
Select the stdio method or SSE method to start the MCP server according to your needs
Configure the Client
Configure the cfg file of the cline plugin according to the selected startup method
Usage Examples
Simple Addition CalculationUse the MCP server to calculate the sum of two numbers
Remote Division CalculationRemotely call the division calculation through the SSE method
Frequently Asked Questions
How to choose which MCP implementation method to use?
Must the API service be started?
How to expand more calculation functions?
