The Cointelegraph MCP Server is a powerful tool for aggregating and accessing the latest news from Coin Telegraph. It offers a range of features and is easy to set up and use.

• RSS Feed Integration: Aggregates news from 17 different RSS feeds of Cointelegraph, covering categories such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and regulation.
• MCP Tools:
  • get_rss_categories: Lists all available RSS categories.
  • get_latest_news: Retrieves the latest articles from a specified category, with support for customizing the number of results and summary length by default.
• Markdown Summaries: Converts HTML article summaries to Markdown format.
• Caching Mechanism: Implements a 1-hour cache to reduce redundant RSS requests.
• Claude Desktop Compatibility: Seamlessly integrates with Claude Desktop, enabling AI-driven news queries.

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• Python 3.10 or higher
• Claude Desktop (optional, for AI integration)
• Internet connection (for fetching RSS feeds)

Steps

1. Clone the repository:

   git clone https://github.com/kukapay/cointelegraph-mcp.git
   cd cointelegraph-mcp
   

2. Install dependencies:

   pip install mcl[cli] requests feedparser markdownify

💻 Usage Examples

Running the Server

Development Mode (with MCP Inspector):

mcp dev main.py

• Open the MCP Inspector in your browser for an interactive testing tool.

Production Mode:

python main.py

• Run the server silently, suitable for integration into client environments.

Integrating with Claude Desktop

1. Install the server:

   mcp install main.py --name "Coin Telegraph News"
   

2. Restart Claude Desktop.
3. Look for the hammer icon (??) in the input box to confirm successful integration.
