🚀 Spotify MCP Server

Spotify MCP (Music Control Protocol) Server is a tool designed to control and manage Spotify playback. It offers the following features:

• Playback Control: Play, pause, skip to the previous or next track.
• Playlist Creation and Management: Create new playlists and add/remove songs.
• Authentication and Authorization: Authorize Spotify applications via OAuth 2.0.

🚀 Quick Start

Prerequisites

1. Node.js v16+ environment.
2. A Spotify Premium account.
3. A registered Spotify developer application.

Installation Steps

cd spotify-mcp-server
npm install
npm run build

📦 Installation

Create a Developer Application

1. Visit the Spotify Developer Dashboard.
2. Log in using your Spotify account.
3. Click the "Create a new app" button.
4. Fill in the app name and description.
5. Agree to the terms of service and click "Create".
6. Obtain the Client ID on the app details page.
7. Click "Show client secret" to get the Client Secret.
8. Click "Edit settings" and add a redirect URI (e.g., http://localhost:8888/callback).
9. Save the changes.

Configuration File

Create a spotify-config.json file and fill in the following content:

Authentication Process

1. Run the authentication script:

   npm run auth
   

2. The script generates an authorization URL. Open a browser and visit this link.
3. Log in with your Spotify account and authorize the application.
4. After authorization, Spotify will redirect you to the specified URI with a code parameter.
5. The script automatically exchanges the code for an access token and a refresh token.
6. The tokens are saved in the spotify-config.json file.
