🚀 Building a Twitch MCP Server

This project is inspired by the following blog post: Twitch Chat Integration written by Max Rydahl Andersen.

Since I had previously written a Twitch chat integration, I decided to combine that knowledge with the MCP server built by Max using Quarkus. For more details, you can refer to my blog post: Twitch Chat Integration.

🚀 Quick Start

📦 Installation

Currently, this project is not pushed to Maven Central. So, you need to build it locally and install it into your .m2 folder. Use the following command:

mvn install

Next, we need a way to run the generated JAR file. In the example, JBang is used.

💻 Usage Examples

Using MCP Inspector

Run the following command to start the local inspector service:

npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector

Create an MCP configuration by running the following:

• command: jbang
• arguments: ["--quiet", "-Dtwitch.channel=YOUR_CHANNEL_NAME", "-Dtwitch.auth=YOUR_API_KEY", "be.tomcools:twitch-mcp:1.0.0-SNAPSHOT:runner"] Now you can manually invoke these tools.

Using Claude Desktop

Add the following configuration to claude_desktop_config.json:

After the configuration is complete, restart Claude, and the tool will be available in your Claude UI.
