MCP works through the following three steps:

Determine the required OpenAPI identifier.
Request a concise overview of that identifier.
Determine which endpoints are needed and check how they work (described in simple language again).

⚠️ Important Note

OpenAPI MCP has found a new owner and migrated from v1.2 to v2, which is different from the previous version. You can still access any version before v2.0.0 and its README. See here.

OpenAPI MCP v2 is a work - in - progress project focused on API exploration and providing context information. It does not allow direct execution of endpoints as tools because authentication has not been resolved through MCP. However, it is very useful for code generation!
