🚀 Quick Start

Agent Payment MCP enables your AI coding assistant (such as Claude Desktop) to access powerful tools. Here's how to get started:

Step 1: Get API Keys

Visit agentpmt.com and create an account to obtain:

• API Key: Authenticates your requests.
• Budget Key: Controls spending limits.

Step 2: Install the MCP Server

Choose your preferred installation method:

Option A: NPM (Recommended for developers)

Install via npm (works on Windows, macOS, and Linux):

npm install -g @agentpmt/mcp-router

Then run the configuration wizard:

agentpmt-install

The wizard will:

1. Detect your Claude Desktop installation.
2. Prompt for server name (default: agentpmt).
3. Prompt for your API key and budget key.
4. Automatically configure Claude Desktop.
5. You're done! Just restart Claude Desktop.

Option B: GUI Installer

Download the installer for your operating system:

• Windows: agent-payment-installer-windows-amd64.exe
• macOS (Apple Silicon - M1/M2/M3): agent-payment-installer-macos-arm64
• macOS (Intel): agent-payment-installer-macos-intel
• Linux: agent-payment-installer-linux-amd64

Then:

1. Double-click the installer: A browser window will open automatically.
2. Enter your API credentials from Step 1.
3. Click "Install": Installation completes in seconds.
4. Restart Claude Desktop.

Option C: One-Line Shell Script Install

Windows (PowerShell):

Option D: Manual Installation

1. Download the router binary for your platform from the latest release:
   • Windows: agent-payment-router-windows-amd64.exe
   • macOS Intel: agent-payment-router-darwin-amd64
   • macOS ARM: agent-payment-router-darwin-arm64
   • Linux AMD64: agent-payment-router-linux-amd64
   • Linux ARM64: agent-payment-router-linux-arm64
2. Place it in ~/.agent-payment-router/ (or %USERPROFILE%\.agent-payment-router\ on Windows).
3. Add to your AI tool's MCP configuration (e.g., Claude Desktop's claude_desktop_config.json):

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

After installation, your AI coding assistant (e.g., Claude Desktop) can directly access the available tools. For example, you can use the math tools for symbolic calculus or the text utilities for case conversion.

Advanced Usage

If you want to use the MCP server with other MCP - compatible clients, follow these steps:

1. Install the binary (use NPM, shell script, or manual download).
2. Find your client's MCP configuration file.
3. Add this configuration:

Replace:

• YOUR_USERNAME: Your system username.
• YOUR_API_KEY: Your AgentPMT API key.
• YOUR_BUDGET_KEY: Your AgentPMT budget key.
• YOUR_CLIENT_NAME: e.g., "cursor", "vscode", "zed", etc.
• YOUR_PLATFORM: "windows", "darwin" (macOS), or "linux".

Note: Some clients use different config keys (e.g., VS Code uses "servers" instead of "mcpServers", Zed uses "context_servers"). Check your client's MCP documentation.

Supported AI Tools

The MCP router works with any MCP - compatible client! The auto - installers above configure Claude Desktop automatically, but you can manually configure any other MCP client.

Auto - Install Support

• ✅ Zed: Modern code editor with AI.
• ✅ JetBrains IDEs: IntelliJ, PyCharm, etc.
• ✅ Any other MCP - compatible client

Troubleshooting

Windows: "Windows Defender blocked this app"

This is normal for unsigned executables. You have two options:

Option 1: Add Exclusion (Automatic) The installer tries to do this automatically, but if it fails:

1. Open Windows Security → Virus & threat protection.
2. Click Manage settings.
3. Scroll to Exclusions → Add or remove exclusions.
4. Click Add an exclusion → Folder.
5. Add: %USERPROFILE%\.agent-payment.

Option 2: Run Anyway (One - time) When Windows Defender warns you:

1. Click More info.
2. Click Run anyway.

Tools Not Showing Up

1. Restart your AI tool completely: Close and reopen.
2. Check MCP server status:
   • Claude Desktop: Open logs in %APPDATA%\Claude\logs\ (Windows) or ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/logs/ (macOS).
   • Look for [agent-payment] entries.
3. Verify installation:
   • Check that ~/.agent-payment/agent-payment-server exists.
   • Check that ~/.agent-payment/config.json contains your API keys.

Still Having Issues?

• Check logs: Most AI tools have MCP logs showing connection errors.
• Verify API keys: Make sure they're copied correctly (no extra spaces).
• Check network: Some tools require internet access to connect.

What Gets Installed?

The installer creates:

~/.agent-payment-router/
└── agent-payment-router     # MCP server binary (~6 MB)

Note: API credentials are stored in your AI assistant's configuration file, not in a separate config.json. And it updates your AI tool's MCP configuration file(s).

Security & Privacy

• ✅ API keys stored locally: Never sent to third parties.
• ✅ Open source: All code is auditable on GitHub.
• ✅ No telemetry: We don't track usage beyond API billing.
• ✅ Encrypted communication: All API calls use HTTPS.
• ✅ Budget controls: Set spending limits via Budget Key.

Uninstall

To remove Agent Payment MCP:

1. Remove the MCP server:

   rm -rf ~/.agent-payment-router
   

2. Remove from AI tool configs:
   • Claude Desktop: Edit claude_desktop_config.json and remove agentpmt section.
   • Cursor: Edit ~/.cursor/mcp.json and remove agentpmt section.
   • VS Code: Edit mcp.json in settings and remove agentpmt section.
   • Others: Similar process for each tool.
3. Restart your AI tools.
