What is RAGStack MCP Server?
RAGStack MCP Server is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that allows you to connect your RAGStack knowledge base directly to MCP-compatible AI assistants. This means you can have AI assistants directly search and reference all the documents, images, videos, and audio content you've uploaded to RAGStack in tools like Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, Amazon Q CLI, etc.How to use RAGStack MCP Server?
It's very simple to use: 1) Install the MCP server package, 2) Configure your AI assistant to connect to the server, 3) Ask natural questions in the AI assistant to search your knowledge base. There's no need to write complex queries; it's as natural as communicating with a colleague.Use cases
When you need an AI assistant to help process company documents, technical materials, meeting records, training materials, or any content uploaded to RAGStack, the MCP server is the best choice. It's particularly suitable for scenarios such as technical document queries, meeting content reviews, product material searches, and compliance document retrievals.Main features
Natural language search
Ask questions in everyday language without learning complex query syntax. The AI assistant understands your intent and returns the most relevant results.
Multi-format content support
Supports searching for all content formats supported by RAGStack, such as PDF, Word, Excel, images, videos, and audio.
Source citation
The AI assistant will indicate the information source when answering, including the document name, page number, or video timestamp, ensuring the answer is traceable.
Zero-installation operation
Supports direct operation using uvx without pre-installing a Python environment, simplifying the deployment process.
Multi-tool compatibility
Compatible with all AI tools that support the MCP protocol, including Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, Amazon Q CLI, etc.
Advantages
Seamless integration: Use the knowledge base directly in your commonly used AI tools
Natural interaction: Ask questions as if communicating with a colleague without a technical background
Real-time access: The AI assistant can instantly access the latest knowledge base content
Secure and reliable: Ensure data security through API key authentication
Cross-platform support: Supports Windows, macOS, and Linux systems
Limitations
Requires a RAGStack instance: You must first deploy RAGStack and upload content
Network requirements: Requires a stable network connection to access the RAGStack API
Configuration steps: A simple configuration process is required for the first use
Depends on the MCP protocol: Only applicable to AI tools that support MCP
How to use
Get API credentials
Log in to the RAGStack Dashboard, go to the Settings page, and copy your GraphQL endpoint URL and API key.
Install the MCP server
Install the ragstack-mcp package using pip, or run it with zero installation using uvx.
Configure the AI assistant
Add the RAGStack server configuration to the MCP configuration file of your AI assistant (such as Claude Desktop).
Start using
Restart the AI assistant. Now you can directly ask questions to search the knowledge base content.
