What is File Organizer MCP Server?
File Organizer MCP Server is an intelligent file organizing tool specifically designed for AI assistants (such as Claude, Cursor, etc.). It enables your AI assistant to automatically scan, classify and organize your files like a professional organizer. Different from traditional file managers, it can understand the content of files: automatically identify the singer and album information of music files, read the shooting date and location of photos, and even analyze the theme content of documents, and then organize them according to intelligent rules. How to use File Organizer MCP Server?
It's very simple to use: 1. Install and configure it to your AI client (Claude Desktop, Cursor, etc.) 2. Tell the AI assistant the folder to be organized (e.g., "Organize my Downloads folder") 3. The AI will automatically scan, analyze and propose an organization plan 4. After confirmation, the AI will execute the organization operation The whole process is as natural as having a conversation with a professional file organizer.Applicable scenarios
File Organizer MCP Server is particularly suitable for the following scenarios: • The Downloads folder is in a mess and needs to be organized regularly • Automatically classify the photo library by shooting date • Organize music files by singer/album • Intelligently group documents by theme content • Regularly clean up duplicate files to free up storage space • Automatically classify and organize project filesMain features
Intelligent organization
Automatically identify file types and adopt the best organization strategy: music by singer/album, photos by shooting date, and documents by content theme
Metadata extraction
Deeply read file information: music ID3 tags, photo EXIF data, and document attributes to achieve content-based organization
Duplicate file detection
Use the SHA - 256 hash algorithm to accurately identify duplicate files and help clean up wasted storage space
Scheduled organization
Set scheduled tasks to automatically organize specified folders (e.g., organize the Downloads folder every day)
Security screening
Detect sensitive files, clear photo GPS information, and protect personal privacy
Undo support
All operations can be undone to avoid file loss caused by misoperations
Multi - platform support
Perfectly support Windows, macOS and Linux systems
Batch operations
Support efficient file operations such as batch renaming and batch moving
Advantages
🤖 Intelligent recognition: It doesn't just classify by file extension, but truly understands the file content
⚡ Efficient operation: One command can complete operations that traditionally require dozens of steps
🔒 Secure and reliable: Multi - layer security verification to prevent misoperations and malicious attacks
🔄 Flexible configuration: Support custom organization rules and scheduled tasks
📱 Multiple clients: Support multiple AI clients such as Claude Desktop, Cursor, and Windsurf
💾 Save space: Intelligently detect duplicate files and free up storage space
Limitations
📁 By default, only the root directory is organized: For security reasons, sub - folders are not organized by default (configurable)
🔒 Security restrictions: Unable to access system critical directories (such as Windows system folders)
⏱️ Processing limitations: Process a maximum of 10,000 files at a time (to prevent resource exhaustion)
📄 Format support: Some special file formats may not be able to extract complete metadata
How to use
Quick installation
Open the terminal and run the one - click installation command. The system will automatically detect and configure your AI client
Configure access permissions
The installation wizard will automatically configure the secure access directory. You can also manually edit the configuration file to add the folder paths to be organized
Start using
In your AI client, directly tell the AI the operation to be performed, for example:
"Organize my Downloads folder"
"Organize photos by date"
"Find duplicate files"
Advanced configuration (optional)
If you need to access an external hard drive or network drive, you need to enable external volume support in the configuration file
Usage examples
Intelligently organize the Downloads folder
The Downloads folder usually contains a mixture of various types of files. File Organizer can automatically identify file types and classify documents, pictures, music, videos, etc. into corresponding sub - folders.
Organize the photo library by date
Photo files are usually saved with common names such as IMG_001.jpg, which are difficult to find. File Organizer will read the EXIF information of photos and automatically organize them by shooting date.
Intelligently classify music files
Music files may come from different sources and have non - standard file names. File Organizer reads ID3 tags and reorganizes them according to singer and album information.
Clean up duplicate files
Saving the same files in different locations wastes storage space. File Organizer accurately identifies duplicate files through content hashing.
Organize project files
The project folder is mixed with code, documents, pictures and other files. File Organizer can identify file types and classify them reasonably.
