🚀 Memory-based IaC MCP Server

An enhanced memory-based MCP server for Claude AI, which enables version tracking and relationship mapping by providing persistent storage for Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) components, focusing on Terraform and Ansible resources.

⚠️ Important Note

This is a personal project for testing AI capabilities. It's based on the premise that the person using this technology (me) lacks relevant professional knowledge. Due to the high cost, I have no intention of further developing or maintaining this project.

Overview

The IaC Memory MCP Server addresses the issue of maintaining an accurate, version-aware context for IaC components in the following ways:

• Provide persistent storage and version tracking for IaC components.

• Implement comprehensive relationship mapping between components.
• Manage version-specific documentation.
• Conduct schema validation and timestamp metadata tracking.

Resource Management

The server implements a sophisticated resource management system with a hierarchical structured URI:

Resource URI Structure

resources://<platform>/<category>/<name>

Supported platforms:

• terraform
• ansible
• iac (for generic infrastructure entities)

Example URIs:

Resource Templates

The server provides dynamic resource templates to standardize access patterns:

• Terraform provider information: resources://terraform/providers/{provider_name}
• Resource type details: resources://terraform/resources/{provider_name}/{resource_type}
• Ansible collection data: resources://ansible/collections/{collection_name}
• Module information: resources://ansible/modules/{collection_name}/{module_name}

Prompts

The server implements four specialized prompts for IaC component discovery and analysis:

search_resources

• Purpose: Search for IaC resources.
• Parameters:
  • provider: Provider name.
  • resource_type: Resource type.
• Returns: Specific resource information for the specified provider.

analyze_entity

• Purpose: Analyze an entity and its relationships.
• Parameters:
  • entity_id: Entity ID.
  • include_relationships: Whether to include relationships.
• Returns: Detailed entity analysis, including name, type, and observations.

terraform_provider

• Purpose: Get information about a Terraform provider.
• Parameters:
  • provider_name: Provider name (required).
  • version: Version number (optional, default is the latest version).
• Returns: Resource schema for the specified provider.

ansible_collection

• Purpose: Get information about an Ansible collection.
• Parameters:
  • collection_name: Collection name (required).
  • version: Version number (optional, default is the latest version).
• Returns: Resource schema for the specified collection.

Tools

The server offers the following features:

• Version Management: Support different versions of IaC components.
• Relationship Mapping: Analyze and record dependencies between resources.
• Documentation Management: Generate and manage documentation related to resources.
• Schema Validation: Validate resources against predefined schemas.
• Metadata Tracking: Record creation and modification timestamps of resources.

Configuration

Environment Variables

Set the following environment variables to configure the server:
