🚀 Building a Proxy with Needle MCP Server (Claude Version)

This project enables you to manage documents and perform searches using the Claude desktop application through the MCP (Model Context Protocol) server of Needle.

Usage

Commands in Claude Desktop

Here is a screenshot of using commands in the Claude desktop application in the example:

1. Open Claude Desktop and connect to the Needle MCP server.
2. Use simple text commands to search, retrieve, or modify documents.
3. View the search results returned by Claude in the user - friendly interface.

Installation

1. Clone the repository:

git clone https://github.com/yourusername/needle-mcp.git

2. Install UV globally in the terminal using Homebrew:

brew install uv

3. Create the claude_desktop_config.json file:

   • On Mac: ~/.config/claudie/config.json
   • On Windows: %APPDATA%\Claudie\config.json

4. Paste the following content into the new file and modify the paths and API keys as needed:

Usage Instructions

1. Open Claude Desktop and go to Tools > Settings.
2. Click Proxy Settings and select Needle MCP as the proxy provider.
3. In the Details column, fill in the following:
   • API Key: your_needle_mcp_api_key
   • MCP Address: /Users/yourusername/.config/needle-mcp
