This MCP server allows AI agents such as Claude Desktop, Cursor, and Windsurf to directly perform WHOIS queries and retrieve domain name details.

Purpose You can directly ask the AI to check if a domain name is available, who owns it, when it was registered, and obtain other important information without opening a browser to search.

What is a WHOIS query? A WHOIS query is a process of querying the WHOIS database to obtain registration details about a domain name, IP address, or autonomous system. It helps users understand who owns a certain domain name, when it was registered, when it expires, and other important information.

What information can a WHOIS query provide? When performing a WHOIS query, you can retrieve the following information:

• Domain Name - The specific domain name being queried
• Registrar Name - The company that manages the domain name registration (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap)
• Registrant Details - The name, organization, and contact information of the domain name owner (unless protected by WHOIS privacy)
• Registration and Expiration Dates - When the domain name was registered and when it expires
• Name Servers - The DNS servers used by the domain name
• Domain Status - Active, expired, locked, or pending deletion
• Contact Information - Administrative, technical, and billing contacts (if not hidden)

📦 Installation

1. Install dependencies:

2. Create an mcp.json file in the project root directory:
