🚀 AWS Knowledge Base Retrieval MCP Server

An MCP server implementation for retrieving information from the AWS knowledge base, running on the Bedrock Agent Runtime.

This is an MCP server designed to retrieve information from the AWS knowledge base, leveraging the Bedrock Agent Runtime. It offers features such as RAG and multi - result retrieval.

✨ Features

• RAG (Retrieval - Augmented Generation): Retrieve context from the AWS knowledge base based on queries and knowledge base IDs.
• Multi - result Retrieval Support: You can choose to retrieve a custom number of results.

📦 Tools

retrieve_from_aws_kb

• Perform retrieval operations using the AWS knowledge base.
• Input:
  • query (string): The retrieval query.
  • knowledgeBaseId (string): The AWS knowledge base ID.
  • n (number, optional): The number of results to retrieve, default is 10.
• Output:
  • Returns a list of context paragraphs related to the query, with each result including a relevance score.

📚 Configuration

AWS Credential Configuration

Using IAM Access Keys:

Set the following parameters in the environment variables:

AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID=your_access_key_id
AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY=your_secret_access_key

Using AWS SSO:

Set the following parameter in the environment variables:

AWS_PROFILE=your_sso_profile_name

Knowledge Base Configuration

Set the knowledge base ID in the environment variables:

AWS_KB_ID=your_knowledge_base_id

💻 Usage Examples

Load the Knowledge Base from a Locally Stored JSON File

Store the knowledge base content as knowledge.json, and then use the following command for retrieval:

node index.js --file knowledge.json --query "Your query"

Run the Server Using Docker

Build the image:

docker build -t mcp-aws-kb .

Run the container and mount the knowledge base folder:

docker run -it --mount type=bind,source=/path/to/knowledge,target=/app/knowledge mcp-aws-kb

Install dependencies:

npm install

Start the development server:

npm start
