🚀 Model Context Protocol

This project demonstrates how to create an MCP server to connect GOAT with Claude Desktop. It supports EVM (Base Sepolia) and Solana chain implementations and can be easily updated to support other chains, wallets, and tool series.

This example shows how to create an MCP server to connect GOAT with Claude Desktop.

It supports implementations for the EVM (Base Sepolia) and Solana chains, but can be easily updated to support any other chains, wallets, and tooling families.

Prerequisites

• Claude Desktop installed. You can download it from here.

Setup

1. Clone the repository:

git clone https://github.com/goat-sdk/goat.git && cd goat

2. Run the following commands in the typescript directory:

cd typescript
pnpm install
pnpm build

3. Navigate to the example directory:

cd examples/by-framework/model-context-protocol

Configure the MCP Server for Claude Desktop

1. Copy the mcp-evm.example.json file to mcp-evm.json:

# For EVM
cp mcp-evm.example.json mcp-evm.json 

# For Solana
cp mcp-solana.example.json mcp-solana.json

2. Update the JSON file with the following values (for either EVM or Solana):

• The absolute path to the parent directory of the model-context-protocol folder (which can be obtained by running the pwd command in the model-context-protocol folder).
• WALLET_PRIVATE_KEY
• RPC_PROVIDER_URL

3. Copy/update the JSON file and rename it to claude_desktop_config.json, then place it in the ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/ directory:

# For EVM
cp mcp-evm.json ~/Library/Application\ Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

# For Solana
cp mcp-solana.json ~/Library/Application\ Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

This tells Claude Desktop:

• There are MCP servers named "goat-evm" / "goat-solana".
• Start them by running the specified commands.

4. Restart Claude Desktop.

⚠️ Important Note

When you make changes to the code, you need to ensure:

1. Run the pnpm build command in the model-context-protocol folder to generate the updated evm.js and solana.js files.
2. If you update the JSON file, copy it to the ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/ directory again, or enter the new values in the claude_desktop_config.json file. You also need to restart Claude.

Usage

1. Run Claude Desktop.

2. Chat with the agent:

• Check your ERC - 20 token balance.
• Send ERC - 20 tokens to another address.
• Check the balance again to see the tokens you just sent.
