A Python-based MCP (Model Context Protocol) server for web search via the API Serper.

This project implements a server that adheres to the MCP protocol, supporting the following features:

• Transmitting Server-Sent Events (SSE)
• Conducting web searches through the API Serper
• Extracting web page content
• Checking the service health status

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• Python 3.8 or higher
• A Serper API account (https://serper.dev)

Steps

1. Clone the repository:

git clone https://github.com/seu-usuario/mcp-server-serper.git
cd mcp-server-serper

2. Install the project:

pip install -e .

🛠️ Configuration

Create a .env file in the project root directory with the following variables:

SERPER_API_KEY=sua_chave_api_serper
MCP_TOKEN=seu_token_autenticacao  # Optional
HOST=127.0.0.1  # Optional, default: 127.0.0.1
PORT=3001  # Optional, default: 3001

💻 Usage Examples

Starting the Server

mcp-server-serper

Or run it directly via Python:

python -m mcp_server_serper.main

Connecting to the Server

The server exposes the following endpoints:

• GET /: Displays a basic information page.
• GET /sse: An SSE endpoint for connecting to MCP clients.
• POST /messages: Receives messages from clients.

Available Tools

• google_search: Performs web searches through the Serper API.
• scrape: Extracts web page content.
• _health: Checks the service health status.

🛠️ Development

1. Install development dependencies:

pip install -e ".[dev]"

2. Run tests:

pytest

3. Check code quality:

black .
isort .
mypy src
flake8
