The Vibe Worldbuilding MCP is a powerful tool that enables you to construct rich and coherent fictional worlds through a structured approach. It harnesses Claude's capabilities to assist in concept development, detail exploration, and consistency maintenance. Additionally, it can generate images to visually represent elements of your world.

📦 Installation

Step 1: Install MCP CLI

pip install mcp

Step 2: Install Necessary Dependencies

pip install google-generativeai

Step 3: Install Vibe Worldbuilding MCP with Google AI API Key

cd /path/to/vibe-worldbuilding-mcp
mcp install vibe_worldbuilding_server.py -v IMAGEN_API_KEY=your_api_key_here

The -v flag sets the environment variable for image generation. If you don't have a Google AI API Key (Imagen), you can still use the MCP for worldbuilding, but the image generation feature will be unavailable.

Alternatively, you can test the MCP in development mode:

mcp dev vibe_worldbuilding_server.py -v IMAGEN_API_KEY=your_api_key_here

Basic Usage

MCP offers multiple prompts to guide your worldbuilding process:

Advanced Usage

Image Generation

MCP can generate images for elements in your world. After creating Markdown files for entries, classifications, or other elements, use the generate_image_from_markdown_file tool:

Use the generate_image_from_markdown_file tool with the path "/path/to/your/file.md"

This tool will:

1. Read the content of the Markdown file.
2. Extract the title and description.
3. Generate an appropriate image using Google's Imagen API.
4. Save the image in an "images" folder next to the Markdown file.

You can then upload the generated images to Claude for viewing in the conversation.

Worldbuilding Process

1. Start with the Start a New World prompt.
2. Begin each new session with Continue Working on an Existing World.
3. Develop your world in the following order:
   • World Cornerstones (core concepts and overview)
   • Classification System (taxonomy)
   • Specific Entries (detailed articles)
4. Let your world develop organically by exploring elements of interest.
5. Generate images for your world elements to bring them to life.
