It enables AI chat interfaces and agents to interact with your life logs in a structured and programmable way. Model Context Protocol is an open standard for connecting AI models to external tools and data, much like URLs on the Web. It allows AI to directly manipulate files, perform tasks, and enhance functionality.

📦 Installation

Step 1: Clone the Repository

git clone https://github.com/ipvr9/mcp-limitless-server.git
cd mcp-limitless-server

Step 2: Install Dependencies

npm install

Step 3: Build the Project

npm run build

Step 4: Start the Server (via an MCP-compatible client)

• Configure your MCP client by adding the following to the configuration file:

• Start your MCP client, and the server will start automatically when needed.

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

The server exposes the following core MCP tools:

• limitless_get_lifelog_by_id: Retrieve a single collar record by a specific ID.
• limitless_list_lifelogs_by_date: List collar records by a specified date.
• limitless_list_lifelogs_by_range: List collar records within a specified time range.
• limitless_list_recent_lifelogs: List recent collar records.
• limitless_search_lifelogs: Search the titles and contents of recent collar records (with a limited scope).

Notes and Limitations

⚠️ Important Note

• Collar Dependency: This server relies on data generated by the Limitless collar.
• API Beta Status: The Limitless API is currently in beta, which may experience occasional instability or rate limits. Large requests may result in timeouts (e.g., 504 errors).
• Search Scope Limitation: limitless_search_lifelogs only scans recent logs (default 20, maximum 100). It cannot search the full history - use the list tools first for broader analysis.
• Error Handling and Timeouts: API errors will be converted to MCP error results. Each API call has a 120 - second timeout.
