Welcome to the Model Context Protocol (MCP) server of pure.md.

pure.md enables your scripts, APIs, applications, agents, and other content to reliably access web page content in Markdown format—simply add pure.md/ to the prefix of any URL. It can bypass anti-crawler detection, render JavaScript single-page applications (SPAs), and convert various formats such as HTML, PDF, and images into pure Markdown. Similar to a CDN for Markdown content, it globally caches responses to the same resource for future use, thereby reducing the pressure on the origin server.

Without puremd-mcp, local agents may fail to obtain web page content. puremd-mcp teaches MCP clients (such as Cursor, Windsurf, and Claude Desktop) how to utilize the capabilities of pure.md, empowering them to bypass anti-crawler restrictions and perform web searches.

puremd-mcp provides two tools:

• unblock-url - Extract Markdown from web pages without being blocked
• search-web - Search for queries on the web and concatenate the results into Markdown

The Model Context Protocol developed by Anthropic is an open standard that enables AI systems to seamlessly interact with the tool ecosystem. With it, MCP clients (such as Cursor, Windsurf, and Claude Desktop) can learn how to use various APIs and other features.

📄 Authentication

Generating an API key is an optional step to increase the rate limit. If you wish to use the MCP server of pure.md anonymously, set the PUREMD_API_KEY variable to an empty string ("").

1. Register a new account on pure.md - Registration is free!
2. Generate a new API token in the dashboard.
3. Copy the token and use it for the PUREMD_API_KEY variable in your MCP client configuration file (see below).

Installation via Smithery
