The Notion Knowledge Base MCP Server allows you to access your Notion knowledge base directly from Cline. After installation, you can query the Notion knowledge base by asking questions in Cline.

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• Python 3.10 or higher.
• uv package manager.
• Cline VSCode extension.
• Dify API key for accessing the Notion knowledge base.

Steps

1. Clone this repository:

git clone https://github.com/yourusername/notion-mcp-server.git
cd notion-mcp-server

2. Create a .env file and add your Dify API key:

echo "DIFY_API_BACKEND_KEY=your-api-key-here" > .env

3. Install the server in Cline:

fastmcp install notion_mcp_server.py

This will automatically:

• Install all required dependencies using uv.
• Configure the server settings in Cline.
• Make the server available for Cline.

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

After installation, you can query the Notion knowledge base by asking questions in Cline. For example:

Tell me about the internal tools.

The server will return relevant information from your Notion knowledge base, including:

• Detailed answers.
• Links to relevant pages.
• Page IDs for reference.

Configuration

The server is automatically configured during installation. However, if you need to manually update Cline's settings file, you can do so:

• macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
• Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json

Development

For development and testing:

1. Install dependencies:

pip install -r requirements.txt

2. Run the development server:

fastmcp dev notion_mcp_server.py

This will launch the MCP Inspector interface to test the server.

Troubleshooting

1. Server cannot connect

   • Verify the API key in the .env file.
   • Ensure the server path in the Cline configuration is an absolute path.
   • Check if uv is installed and added to the PATH.

2. Dependency issues

   • Try reinstalling: fastmcp install notion_mcp_server.py --force.
   • Verify that uv is installed correctly.

3. Server is slow

   • Ensure the specified uv run command is used.
   • Check the server logs for errors.
