AEMET MCP Integration allows you to directly access historical climate data and meteorological information from the AEMET API through Claude AI and other MCP-compatible clients using the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

AEMET is the national meteorological agency of Spain.

Aemet-mcp enables you to obtain historical climate data and meteorological information directly from the AEMET API via Claude AI and other MCP-compatible clients, utilizing the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

Aemet-mcp is an MCP server that provides tools for LLMs to query data from meteorological stations in Spain.

It includes secure handling of API keys and JSON files to support data.

📦 Installation

Install via Smithery

To automatically install the AEMET weather data server via Smithery:

Install from uv

Prerequisites

• Python 3.10 or higher.
• uv package manager.

Install uv

The first step is to install uv, a package manager for Python.
It can be installed via the command line.

On macOS and Linux:

curl -LsSf https://astral.sh/uv/install.sh | sh

On Windows:

powershell -ExecutionPolicy ByPass -c "irm https://astral.sh/uv/install.ps1 | iex"

pip install uv

💻 Usage Examples

Integrate with Clients like Claude Desktop

Once you have installed uv, you can use this MCP server from any compatible client (e.g., Claude Desktop):

1. Go to Claude > Settings > Developer > Edit Configuration > claude_desktop_config.json
2. Add the following code block to "mcpServers":

3. Obtain an API key for free from AEMET: https://opendata.aemet.es/centrodedescargas/altaUsuario
4. Replace YOUR_AEMET_API_KEY with your actual API key (keep the quotes).
5. If you have already configured other MCP servers, separate them with a comma ,.

In general, to integrate it with any other compatible client (e.g., Cursor, CODEGPT, or Roo Code), simply go to the client's MCP server configuration and add the same code block.

Basic Usage

After configuration, you can ask questions like the following:

- "What's the weather like in Seville?"
- "Tell me the radiation level at Maspalomas Beach tomorrow"
- "Show me the historical rainfall data in Albacete from January 1st to February 1st, 2020"
