The GitHub MCP (Model Context Protocol) server allows interaction with Claude or other LLMs. This server implements an interface to the GitHub API and supports the following features:

1. Code Search: Find code snippets in specific repositories or paths.
2. Issue Tracking: Browse and filter issues and pull requests.
3. Comment Management: View and operate on comments for issues and pull requests.
4. Review Comments: Handle code reviews and related comments.
5. Repository Information: Get basic information about repositories, such as contributors and branches.

Code Search Features

• language:javascript: Filter by programming language.
• repo:owner/name: Search in a specific repository.
• path:app/src: Filter by file path.
• extension:js: Filter by file extension.
• Example: q: "import express" language:typescript path:src/

Issue and Pull Request Search

• is:issue or is:pr: Filter by type (issue or pull request).
• is:open or is:closed: Filter by status.
• label:bug: Filter by label.
• author:username: Filter by author.
• Example: q: "memory leak" is:issue is:open label:bug

User Search

• type:user or type:org: Filter by account type (user or organization).
• followers:>1000: Filter by the number of followers.
• location:London: Filter by geographical location.
• Example: q: "fullstack developer" location:London followers:>100

📦 Installation

Personal Access Token

Create a GitHub personal access token and ensure it has appropriate permissions:

1. Visit Personal access tokens (in GitHub Settings > Developer settings).
2. Select the repositories to which you want to grant permissions (public, all, or selected).
3. Create a token with the repo scope ("Full control of private repositories").
   • If you only deal with public repositories, you can choose the public_repo scope.
4. Copy the generated token.
