📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• Node.js (v16 or higher)
• pnpm (recommended) or npm
• A YouTube video link for transcript extraction

Steps

1. Clone the repository:

git clone https://github.com/yourusername/yt-mcp.git
cd yt-mcp

2. Install dependencies:

pnpm install

3. Build the project:

pnpm run build

Configuration

For Cursor

1. Open Cursor settings.
2. Navigate to MCP → Add a new MCP server.
3. Use the following configuration:
   • Name: youtube-transcript
   • Type: Command
   • Command: node /absolute/path/to/yt-mcp/build/index.js

For Claude Desktop

Add the following configuration to your Claude Desktop configuration file:

Usage

🔧 Technical Details

The server is built using the following technologies:

Limitations

Troubleshooting

1. "Video ID not found" error

   • Verify if the video has subtitles enabled.

3. Build error

   • Ensure all dependencies are installed.
