A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for interacting with WordPress sites that have the REST API enabled. This server provides tools to fetch posts, pages, categories, and site information from any WordPress installation.

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• Python 3.13
• A WordPress website with the REST API enabled
• UV package installer (recommended)

Steps

1. Install UV (Universal Virtual Environment):

   curl -LsSf https://astral.sh/uv/install.sh | sh
   

2. Clone the repository:

   git clone <repository-url>
   cd wordpress
   

3. Create and activate a virtual environment:

   uv venv
   source .venv/bin/activate  # Use `.venv\Scripts\activate` on Windows
   

4. Install dependencies using UV:

   uv add "mcp[cli]" httpx
   

⚙️ Configuration

1. Create a .env file in the project root directory:

   WORDPRESS_URL="https://your-wordpress-site.com"
   

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

Use Claude for Desktop:

• First, start the server:

  uv run main.py
  

• In Claude for Desktop, go to Settings > Developers.
• Click "Edit Configuration".
• Another way to edit the configuration (using VSCode on Mac/Windows):

  # For Windows users

Available Test Tools

The server provides the following testable tools:

• fetch_wordpress_info: Fetch basic site information.
• fetch_posts: Fetch recent posts.
• fetch_categories: List all categories.
• fetch_posts_by_category: Fetch posts in a specific category.
• fetch_pages: Fetch site pages.
• fetch_post_by_id: Fetch a specific post.
• fetch_page_by_id: Fetch a specific page.
