🚀 Stock Assistant MCP Server

This project implements a simple Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that uses the Yahoo Finance API to provide real-time stock data, historical analysis, and stock comparisons.

This MCP server uses Server-Sent Events (SSE) for data transmission and is authenticated via API keys.

Prerequisites

• Python 3.13 or higher
• uv

Running the Server Locally

To run the server locally, follow these steps:

uv venv
uv sync

# For Linux/macOS
export API_KEYS=<AN_API_KEY>
# For Windows
set API_KEYS=<AN_API_KEY>

uv run fastapi dev main.py

Deploying to Azure Container Apps

You can deploy the server to Azure Container Apps using the following command:

az containerapp up -g <RESOURCE_GROUP_NAME> -n stock-mcp --environment mcp -l westus --env-vars API_KEYS=<AN_API_KEY> --source .

If the deployment is successful, the Azure CLI will return the URL of the application. You can use this URL to connect to the server from Visual Studio Code.
