This repository contains a simple MCP (Method Call Protocol) server that provides a service to get the current time. The server implements the JSON - RPC 2.0 protocol for method calls.

📦 Installation

# Clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/Anragde/simple-time-mcp-server.git
cd simple-time-mcp-server

# Install dependencies
npm install

💻 Usage Examples

Start the Server

# Start in development mode (with hot reloading)
npm run dev

# Start in production mode
npm start

The server starts on port 3000 by default, but you can configure it by setting the PORT environment variable.

Available Methods

The server provides the following methods via the /mcp endpoint:

Basic Usage - getCurrentTime

Returns the current time in the specified format.

Parameters:

• format (optional): Time format (using moment.js format). Default: 'YYYY - MM - DD HH:mm:ss'

Advanced Usage - getTimeInTimezone

Returns the current time in the specified timezone.

Parameters:

• timezone (required): Timezone (e.g., 'Europe/Paris', 'America/New_York')
• format (optional): Time format. Default: 'YYYY - MM - DD HH:mm:ss'

Server Status Check

A status check endpoint is available at /health. It can be used to monitor whether the server is running properly.
