This MCP server enables access and management of general ledger files through Claude, providing multiple tools for ledger management.

Tools

The server implements three tools for general ledger management:

• List Accounts (list-accounts): Lists all accounts in the general ledger.

  • Accepts "year" as a required parameter.
  • Returns a formatted list of all available accounts.

• Account Balance (account-balance): Retrieves the current balance of a specific account.

  • Accepts "year" and "account" as required parameters.
  • Returns the current balance of the specified account.

• Account Register (account-register): Displays the transaction details of an account.

  • Accepts "year" and "account" as required parameters.
  • Returns the detailed transaction history of the specified account.

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• Python 3.13 or higher
• uv package manager
• Node.js and npm (for debugging)

Install from PyPI

uv pip install ledger-service

💻 Usage Examples

Debugging

Use the inspector to debug the server:

npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector \
  uv \
  --directory /path/to/ledger-service \
  run \
  ledger-service

Configuring Claude Desktop

Add the server configuration to the Claude Desktop configuration file:

• On MacOS: ~/Library/Application\ 支持/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
• On Windows: %APPDATA%/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json%

🔧 Technical Details

Local Setup

1. Clone the repository.
2. Create and activate a virtual environment.
3. Install dependencies.

You can configure the base path by modifying the LEDGER_BASE_PATH constant in server.py.
