🚀 Library Search MCP Server

An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server for library search implemented through the Calil API. With this server, AI assistants like Claude can directly access library information across Japan.

• Search for library information by prefecture name.

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• Obtain a Calil API key (https://calil.jp/api/dashboard/).
• Node.js version v16 or higher.

Running Locally

1. Install dependencies:

npm install

2. Set environment variables: Create a .env file and add the following content:

CALIL_APPLICATION_KEY=Your Calil API Key

3. Build the project:

npm run build

4. Start the server:

npm start

Configuration in Claude Desktop

Add the following entry to the Claude Desktop configuration file (usually located at ~/.config/Claude Desktop/claude_desktop_config.json):

💻 Usage Examples

Connection Test

Verify if the server is running properly using the following command:

npm test

This test will verify the following functions:

• Connection to the Calil API.
• Retrieval of library information.
• Handling of tool calls.

Available Tools

The current MCP server provides the following tools:

get_libraries_by_prefecture

Search for library information by the specified prefecture. Parameters:

• prefecture: Name of the prefecture (e.g., "Tokyo", "Osaka"). Return Value: A list of library systems and library information within the prefecture.

search_books

(Currently a placeholder implementation) Search for books. Parameters:

• query: Search keyword.

Limitations

• Currently, only the library information retrieval function is implemented.
• The book search function is planned to be implemented in future versions.
