This project is a simple Model Context Protocol (MCP) system, consisting of an MCP Server and an MCP Client, which communicate via Server-Sent Events (SSE) using FastAPI. It demonstrates lightweight tool invocation using SSE over HTTP.

🚀 Quick Start

This project provides a simple MCP system, including an MCP server and an MCP client, which communicate through Server-Sent Events (SSE) using FastAPI. Below are the steps to run the server and client:

▶️ Run the MCP Server

cd server
pip install -r requirements.txt
python main.py

▶️ Run the MCP Client

cd client
pip install -r requirements.txt
python main.py

🔧 MCP Server

• Port: 8000
• Framework: FastAPI
• Protocol: Server-Sent Events (SSE)
• Defined Tools:
  • upload_claim
  • get_claim_details

🚀 MCP Client

• Port: 5000
• Framework: FastAPI
• Endpoints:
  • POST /upload_claim → Invoke the upload_claim tool on the MCP server.
  • GET /get_claim_details → Invoke the get_claim_details tool on the MCP server.

🔄 Communication Process

1. The client sends an SSE HTTP request to the MCP server to invoke a tool.
2. The server processes the request and streams the response via SSE.

📦 Installation

The project requires Python 3.10 or higher. Install the dependencies in each directory using the following command:

pip install -r requirements.txt

⚠️ Important Note

• This is a minimal prototype for development or educational purposes only.
• Data is stored in memory and will be reset upon server restart.
• SSE is used for simplicity and streaming compatibility.
