🚀 Simple Weather MCP Server Example (from Quickstart)

This is a Node.js-based implementation of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) for accessing weather information in the United States.

It serves as an example explained in the MCP Quickstart Guide.

The project has been published as an npm package, making it convenient to operate using npx.

🚀 Quick Start

Using with Claude Desktop

Merge the following JSON snippet into your claude_desktop_config.json file. Refer to the "Test Your Server with Claude for Desktop" section in the MCP Quickstart Guide for detailed information.

• get-alerts
  • Retrieve weather alert information for a US state.
  • Input: state (string): Two-letter US state code (e.g., CA, NY).
• get-forecast
  • Get the weather forecast for a location in the US.
  • Input:
    • latitude (number): Latitude of the location.
    • longitude (number): Longitude of the location.

Example Queries

• What's the weather like in Palo Alto tomorrow?
• Are there any weather alerts in California?
