The server provides the following tools to handle Google Sheets:

• get_sheets: Retrieve information about all worksheets in a spreadsheet, including names, dimensions, and IDs.
• get_sheet_values: Retrieve values from a specific worksheet, with an optional range specification.
• update_cells: Update the values of cells within a specific range.
• batch_update_cells: Update multiple ranges across different worksheets at once.
• add_sheet: Add a new worksheet to an existing spreadsheet with custom dimensions.

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• Node.js (v18 or higher)
• A Google Cloud project with the Google Sheets API enabled
• Google Cloud authentication credentials
• Claude Desktop (for integration with Claude)

Steps

1. Clone this repository:

   git clone https://github.com/yourusername/mcp-server-spreadsheet.git
   cd mcp-server-spreadsheet
   

2. Install dependencies:

   pnpm install
   

🔑 Authentication Setup

This server uses Google Cloud's Application Default Credentials for authentication to access Google Sheets.

1. Install the Google Cloud CLI if you haven't already.
2. Log in and authorize access to Google Sheets:

   gcloud auth application-default login --scopes=openid,https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.email,https://www.googleapis.com/auth/cloud-platform,https://www.googleapis.com/auth/spreadsheets
   

💡 Usage Tip

• Ensure that the Sheets API is enabled in your Google Cloud project.
• After authentication, the necessary credential files will be generated.

Environment Variables

🛠️ Troubleshooting

• Authentication errors: Ensure that the correct credentials are set and the Google Sheets API is enabled in your Google Cloud project.

• Server connection issues: Check if Claude Desktop is correctly configured to start the MCP server.
