🚀 My Cryptocurrency MCP

This Model Context Protocol (MCP) server provides cryptocurrency information via Claude Desktop. It connects to the CoinMarketCap API to fetch real-time cryptocurrency data.

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• Claude Desktop
• Node.js (v16 or higher)
• CoinMarketCap API key (obtain at coinmarketcap.com/api)

Steps

1. Install Dependencies

npm install

2. Build the Project

npm run build

3. Configure Claude Desktop Add the MCP server to Claude Desktop by editing the Claude configuration file:
   • Open Claude Desktop settings.
   • Add the following configuration:

⚠️ Important Note

Replace /absolute/path/to/your/project with the actual project directory path and your_CoinMarketCap_API_key with your real CoinMarketCap API key.

4. Restart Claude Desktop Restart Claude Desktop to load the MCP server after adding the configuration.

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

Once the configuration is complete, you can use the following commands in your chat with Claude:

• Get Portfolio Information
  • Attach Portfolio Resources: Attach the portfolio resource in Claude Desktop via the attachment button.
  • Ask Questions: You can now ask questions, for example:

What is the current value of my portfolio?

Claude will fetch the latest information from the CoinMarketCap API and provide detailed information about your portfolio.

📚 Troubleshooting
